Here at Piedmont, we're excited about the new 2019 RAM 1500, so we wanted to spread some of our longing around to other pickup truck fans in the Anderson area-after all, sharing is caring, right?

The 2019 RAM 1500 isn't just dressed up or polished, it's all-new. Down 225 pounds and with a mild-hybrid boosted available engine, the 2018 RAM 1500 may be a little leaner, but it's still plenty mean, still offering that available 5.7-liter HEMI® folks loved from previous year's trucks. While you can get it without the eTorque mild-hybrid boost, the word from RAM is, that eTorque enhancement can translate into an extra 130 pound-feet of torque. Ready to start coveting the 2019 RAM 1500 even more? Check out some other new and noteworthy features below.

2019 RAM 1500 Full-Size Pickup: More to Love

The interior of the 2019 RAM 1500 is both quiet and comfortable, thanks to some incredible engineering feats on RAMs part. Engineers added mounted active-tuned mass modules on the side frame, which electronically control shake-weights to offset road vibration. That translates into a buttery smooth ride and a whisper quiet ride. These days, no vehicle is complete without a robust tech offering, and if  reports are true, we can expect some pretty big things from the 2019 RAM 1500's tech offering. Standard infotainment touchscreen size stands at a mere 8.4 inches, but if you'd like even more size, an available 12-inch screen could be yours.Good design is good, but this pickup is still a workhorse at its core. The base engine doesn't change over the 2018 model, but the eTorque technology we mentioned above has the potential to deliver more torque for less fuel, thanks to the engine Start/Stop system it enables. Power is still on tap, easily accessed through an updated 8-speed automatic transmission.

Ram 1500 vs. the Competition

Pickup Truck Heavies Go Head-to-Head | Compare the 2018 RAM 1500 to the 2018 Ford F-150

There's probably no way to settle the battle of the pickup trucks once and for all, but you can't fault us for trying! We might be a little biased, but here at Piedmont CDJR, we think the 2018 RAM 1500 is king of the pickup trucks. Of course, the 2018 Ford F-150 would probably disagree. Follow along below as they hash it out over factors that pickup drivers care about to see which of these light-duty rivals can call itself the winner for this model year.

2018 RAM 1500 vs. 2018 Ford F-150

  • Price: For two such well-matched rivals, the price difference is slim, though the 2018 RAM 1500 narrowly edges out the 2018 Ford 150, with the RAM 1500 starting at $27,095 and the Ford F-150 starting just above, at $27,380.
  • Bed Lengths/Cab Sizes: Another closely matched category, both the 2018 RAM 1500 and the 2018 Ford F-150 give you three cab options and three bed lengths, though not all combinations are possible. The 2018 F-150 options include: 5 feet 6 inches, 6 feet 6 inches, and 8 feet. For the 2018 RAM 1500, your bed options are: 5 feet 7 inches, 6 feet 4 inches, and 8 feet.
  • Interior Comfort: While both these pickups have been praised by editors for their surprisingly upscale interiors, each offering rich available leathers, supportive, contoured seats, and even some awesome tech, but the 2018 RAM 1500 tips the scales with a quieter cabin, bigger touchscreens for its infotainment systems (both the standard and available sizes), as well as high-quality materials throughout its trim lineup, rather than reserved just for the top trims, as with the 2018 Ford F-150.
  • Power: What's a pickup without power? Some call it an F-150….Jokes aside, though, the 2018 RAM 1500 offers more standard power than the 2018 Ford F-150, and that trend continues as you move up the engine offering, though the 2018 F-150 Raptor does finally manage to best the 2018 RAM 1500's power offering, but that engine is only available in that special trim. When you compare base engines, the RAM 1500 features a 3.6-liter V6 engine rated at 305 horsepower, while the 2018 F-150 starts with a 3.3-liter V6, serving only 290 horsepower.
